Yomi Is Sold Out!

Last week, I sold out entirely of complete Yomi sets! This really caught me off guard because I was expecting my inventory to last like a year or at least a few months, but it sold out in the very first month of release. Thanks for all your support and I'm glad the game was received so well.
Unfortunately, I won't have a new print run finished and ready to ship for about 3 months. (Like I said, I was caught off guard by this and have been scrambling to get manufacturing going again.) You can still find the game in your local stores for a bit, but it will run out very soon. I'll start taking pre-orders for the next run in a week or so. The next run will be exactly identical to the first run, but customers who order from sirlingames.com will get a little bit of an extra in the form of some "cursed" cards. (They are not part of the real game and are for joke purposes.) That's my thank you for supporting my company rather than supporting online retailers.

Congratulations! I love it and play it every chance I get (sadly, not as often as I like). Two questions:
1. For future print runs, will you do some kind of Mayfair-esque pricing model that limits selling to end consumers for below a certain price?
2. Will the cursed cards be available for people who preordered the first print run?

I'm with Kevin H. on this one:I got the Deluxe Puzzle Strike, and people who waited for second edition got the PnP for free. Then I got the complete first edition of Yomi, and those who order the second print run will get the cursed character cards. As an early adopter, I'm starting to feel left out.
On the other hand, it's awesome that the game is taking off so well - it bodes well for the financial future of Sirlin games, which seemed quite shaky as of the release of Puzzle Strike. I mean, we all want to keep buying your games, right?
Are you willing to share how big the initial print run of Yomi was?

The two deck packs seem to still be in stock. Looks like now's the time to grab a few more characters for my set while I still can!
One copy of the Complete Yomi arrived on my doorstep (in the Netherlands, pre-ordered it in december) last week and I finally got the chance to play yesterday evening. It was a blast. Can't wait for the next set of games come Saturday. Love the quality of the card stock btw, Magic cards are so fragile and inflexible.
I'll offer a belated congratulations for finally getting this game in production.
I'm surprised to hear it sold out, niche as it is, but it also deserves to be sold out, it's just that good.
Very awesome. You're also have the top two selling products on boardgamehaus.com, with Yomi complete coming in at number 1 and Puzzle Strike at 2. Word of mouth seems to be doing well, and I think you might have a hit on your hands. Here's to hoping for your continued financial stability, and that future designers will be inspired to make more "fixed deck card games," or whatever the hell the new genre winds up being called.
Quick question, if we want to support your operation, where should we buy it? Is the greater profit margins you presumably get from selling out of your own store front more important than incentivizing retailers to restock your product? Is there a particular difference between buying it at a brick and mortar or online, or buying it from a larger retailer like Amazon with slightly higher prices than smaller retailers online with a greater discount?

If you are asking what's best for *me*, then it's best by far if you order from sirlingames.com. Second best (15% worse) if you order from Amazon.com with me as the seller. For Yomi in particular, you can't do either of those right now because it's sold out, so get it wherever you can unless you're ready to wait 3 months. Anyway, beyond that I pretty much get the same in all cases, so whatever is fine. Though in my opinion you should support your local game store at that point because they are providing a community space where you can meet, play, maybe have a tournament, and so on.
The 2-packs are still in stock at my store, btw. And I'm working on getting that new run as soon as I can.
Hm, Sirlin, I'd recommend emphasizing the fact that the 2-packs are still available. I worry about the potential lost sales due to misunderstanding. Maybe do the same on Facebook so people don't think that they have to wait to buy. Tell them they can buy the 2-packs NOW! "Yomi is sold out" as a headline sounds like I can't buy Yomi till the next print run.
Congrats on the sales, by the way. Hope they get produced fast enough next round, heh. I'm sure you'll be monitoring the rate of sales more closely. Good luck, have fun!
Hey sirlin, if you don't want online retailers to sell your product at a reduced cost, how do they get your product in the first place?

James: because I sell to someone who sells to distributors who then sells to retailers. It's out of my hands by the time it goes down the chain that far. By the way, it's not just me who suffers from that problem, the brick-and-mortar retailers suffer too, and they are the ones who can really create local communities and tournaments. Anyway, I have solutions in the works. It will be better in the future.
Picked up my complete set from my local game store along with puzzle strike a day after release, grabbed his second to last Yomi complete yesterday for no reason but to heap money at my gamestore. Will there be any way for us local buyers to purchase the cursed cards? I'm loving Yomi, and I want to support it financially. Sadly the I WANT IT NOW factor swayed my hand to buy it locally and not on your site. I'd be more than happy to plunk down a reasonable fee for them, even if just for the laughs.
Dertek: Hey, cool. I'm working on a new distribution idea that would let me give even better support to retail stores than I'm giving now. Still working on this so can't say for sure, but it's looking more and more likely that they'll be able to get cursed cards, and you too from me, for like $5.
So I ordered Yomi on the 24th of January and have yet to receive it. Am I just out of luck tiill the next print run?
I didn't take a single order *after* the cut off, so if you ordered, then it will ship. I'm surprised it didn't already arrive by now, actually. I know that Aldo's shipping was delayed from storms and weather problems in the northeast, so maybe that's what's going on. Since it'll often be true that a second print run will produce better quality products (typo fixes, rules fixes, smoothed out manufacturing process, etc), Maybe you can consider signing boxes / manuals / cards for the first print runs? Markers are cheap, and early adopters get something nice and sentimental in return.

jamuszero: that's pretty hard given that the inventory is stored thousands of miles from me. It is a good suggestion though, maybe someday I can swing that.
