Yomi and Puzzle Strike (2nd Printing) Pre-orders
At long last, you can finally pre-order Yomi and the 2nd printing of Puzzle Strike. Both the games will be available in January. This is the first release ever of Yomi after 6 years of development. I already released Puzzle Strike, but this new version will finally allow the game to be available in large quantities and at a lower price (with cheaper shipping in the US, also).
I made a couple videos that show the components of the games. I don't go into the awesomeness of the gameplay in these videos, so you'll just have to take my word that they both have pretty awesome and balanced gameplay. Or you can play the early-in-development online versions for free at fantasystrike.com/dev and see for yourself. (Players there will be happy to teach you, I'm sure.)
Here's a video showing what's in the Yomi box:
And here's one showing what's inside the Puzzle Strike box:
This is the culmination of years of work of design, balancing, tournament playtesting, art creation, packaging design, and exacting manufacturing preparation. When I saw the finished product and how well it turned out, I was supposed to feel excited, but really I just felt relief. Now it's your turn to get excited though.
I hope you enjoy Yomi and Puzzle Strike.

Congrats for the culmination of your work. I can't wait to get my copy of yomi (fingers crossed to get it around christmas). Hope the game will achieve the success it obviously deserves ;)!
I really really wish you the best possible of lucks with yomi, people that followed your blog for ages know how much effort, spirit, time and work you put into your games.
Best wishes from Spain.
P.D. Now that I prepared the field, let´s give a try : How about autographing the Yomi Deluxe edition for order #1947?, I d really like to have it signed by you (you can also hire someone and make him sign for you, I ll never notice and you ll make me happy).
I saw this posted on FB, stopeed what I was doing and pre-ordered. Thanks for making awesome games.
Mr. Sirlin, cut your nails.
Looks awesome, got to ask my FLGS if he will be able to carry them.
Yes sir, I do remember that you already told me how to do it, I just still have to do it.
Wow, the new PS print run is gorgeous, especially the bags. I have to find some bags as pretty as these, because the ones in the first run are just not much fun to use (and you need a pair of scissors for the first ten games or so until all the frayed threads have been cut away).
I don't know about Yomi, I would have sleeved the cards, but then they don't fit the boxes any more.
Congrats! I can't believe Yomi is finally going to be out in physical form. Hurray! Any word on when the individual deck pairs will be available for pre-order? (I'm leaning towards the DeGrey/Rook pair to start off with.)
Wow, those bags look niiice.
Sweet, I am excited to get these. They look so nice! It's a shame you can't get them out before christmas huh?
Believe me, I tried to get them out before Christmas, it's just that there are so many steps involved even after manufacturing is done (it's done already by the way!) that there's a lot of ways for delays to happen. I lost 10 days of time from one shipper taking too long to figure out a price quote on shipping to place A as opposed to place B. That then put the bulk shipping into the holiday times where it will take longer for the warehouse to receive it, and they tell me they don't ship anything the last two weeks of the year. Anyway every day for weeks now I have been dealing with the bulk shipping of all this stuff to get into place so it can go to you guys, and it's a ridiculously huge hassle. It seems I lost the battle to have it ship before christmas.
At least this stuff turned out awesome though.
Transferring funds to PayPal now, will order as soon as that's done. Can't wait! : )
v1 puzzle strike shipping is going to finish by the end of the month??? ^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^_^
I just asked the manufacturer of version1 that same question. They said monday they will ship out every single backorder for the regular version (which then goes to a warehouse, then they have to go through receiving, then ship to you). Then they will ship out every single backorder for the deluxe version week after thanksgiving (again, to warehouse, receiving, then to you). It's way, way late and I know this. For version 2, all the manufacturing is already done, so there will be none of this waiting around stuff for orders to ship, it will all arrive here at once, not trickle in.
Is international shipping available? I tried clicking through and it seemed to be but just wanted to be sure. Even at $40 USD for delivery Yomi will be worth it (not to mention the AUD to USD rate at the moment). Also wondering if there are any deals on getting both puzzle strike and yomi.
It's $20 to Canada, $40 to NZ and Australia, and $30 to everywhere else. Your other option would be to ask your local game store to carry it. They can order it the same way that they order their other games. If my games aren't in their catalogs already, they can go to sirlingames.com and click the "contact" link at the bottom to see who to talk to about wholesale pricing. So you can either pay the shipping and be done with it (which is best for me personally, but unfortunate that shipping is so inefficient) or you can get your local shops to start carrying it, which is more work for you, but cheaper for you if they do. (At least I think! Maybe US goods will expensive there no matter how you slice it though?)
What shipping do you use for Yomi? I'm in Japan and basically would like to know if I can track the package. Also, is there a difference between pre-ordering as opposed to just waiting for the actual release date?
I've been waiting to order Yomi for some time now. Congratulations on the releases! Hopefully my inlaws will get me Puzzle Strike for Christmas so I can have the whole set.
I'm really hoping that I get the cards before 1/14...there are a few OCRemix people looking forward to getting a few games in on the real cards during MAGFest.
Congrats, Mr. Sirlin! I ordered a second printing of Puzzle Strike and a full set of Yomi, and I'm trying to get a social circle of former colleagues who also happen to be gamers in on this action.
Sirlin, I have a question about the print-and-play version of Yomi: Would you recommend going to a place like FedEx Kinkos or something to print out the cards, considering the amount of ink and paper required?
ukyo: inside the US, shipping will be from UPS. Outside the US, it's crazy to do that (and like no game company does), so non-US shipping will use USPS for shipping. I actually don't know if tracking will be available, that's a good question. I'll look into that.
Disco: Every time I've ever been to Kinko's, I walk away feeling ripped off. They are just really expensive. What you might not know is that having them CUT the cards for you is damn expensive, even on top of printing them. I have mocked up many decks in my day, and sometimes I paid their ransom for cutting, sometimes I did it all myself (which takes a long time). I also tried printing stuff at Staples instead of Kinkos. Staples was a lot cheaper, but the print quality was also lower. Eventually, I bought a color laser printer, so I print and cut mockups myself. Not sure if that info helps you. In the end Kinkos CAN get the job done, they just cost a lot.
Sirlin mentioned this on the forums, but it's probably worth saying in the comments also:
If you're going to spend enough money at Kinko's to print the .pdf files on cardstock, it'll cost you enough money after printing and cutting that you'll be better off ordering the offical printed set.
If you care enough about aesthetics to print them on something that isn't standard paper, you probably also care enough that the physical release will be worth the money to you. I know it was to me! :p
