This Week in Sirlin Games
A lot of stuff has happened in the past week. First, there was the Game Developer's Conference, and you can read (a whole lot of words) about my personal experiences with it here:
- GDC 2012, Indie Game: The Movie
- GDC 2012, The Day Before Day 1
- GDC 2012, Day 1
- GDC 2012, Day 2
- GDC 2012, Day 3
Next, Yomi received a Best Card Game award from Bestcovery. Yomi stands among Dominion, King of Tokyo, Apples to Apples, and UNO on the Best Card Games list on Bestcovery.com.
Games With Two also reviewed both Yomi and Puzzle Strike in the last week:
And there's more! PAX East will have both an official Yomi tournament and an official Puzzle Strike tournament on the convention's tournament schedule. There will also be demos of Sirlin Games at the Game Salute booth. We could use your help in running those tournaments and in doing demos of Yomi, Puzzle Strike, and/or Flash Duel, too. If you're interested in helping out, please sign up at gamesalute.com/volunteer. You can also sign up to help out at other conventions such as GenCon and Origins at that same link. I think our whole community would be grateful to anyone willing to be an ambassador to introduce new players to our games, so thanks in advance.
And one more thing. Sirlin Games has had a distributor in Canada for some time now: Lion Rampant. And now we have a distributor in Germany, too: Brave New World. German stores (or stores anywhere in the world) can still order from Game Salute at gamestorelocator.com, but now German stores can go through the channels they're more used to going through, and they can probably save on shipping cost, too. If you're in Germany, now's your chance support your local stores, and tell them to sign up with Brave New World and carry Sirlin Games if they haven't already.
It was quite a week! And thanks to all of you for making Flash Duel our latest success!

Congratulations on Yomi getting that Best Card Game award! I haven’t played it much and I actually prefer Puzzle Strike, but it is definitely a great game. (I do wonder why King of Tokyo is listed as a card game though. Yes, it has a deck of ability cards, but it is primarily a dice game and you can win without ever buying/using a single card.)
Big thumbs up for having an official distributor in Germany now! This will make it much easier for me to get both the third edition of Puzzle Strike and the Shadows expansion (once they are released). Huge shipping costs? Not this time! :D
Also, thanks again for your articles about the GDC. They were very interesting. And quite extensive. I'm amazed you could write such long articles after running around all day, visiting presentations, lectures, workshops and other events.
I just ordered Flash Duel yesterday! I can't wait for it to arrive. Thank you for making such fantastic games. I love Yomi so much that it beats out my PS3 for my time and attention most nights of the week. Your games are pure quality. Congratulations on your well-deserved accolades.
Rather than post it in each individual thread - thanks for the great GDC writeups!
Is there a UK distributor? I was able to find someone selling Puzzle Strike over here but I'm having a little trouble tracking down Flash Duel.
Thanks everyone! aerobie: it beat out your PS3, wow!
Steven: Game Salute still has a UK distributor in the works, but for whatever reason it's still not totally settled. I don't even know what the issue is, but it will come eventually.
I love your GDC write ups, not a hundred posts a day, just one a day with everything important in there. Good connected to another and a nice read. Thank you Sirlin!
The volunteer link is broken
link fixed, thanks!
I received my Fantasy Bundle Pack 2 days ago, and I'm really happy with it. Even if I can't really use the boxes for Yomi (and Flash Duel) because I sleeve my cards. They're really great games. Totally worth the wait (and the shipping cost).
I loved the writeups. Thanks for doing those.
