Various Updates

Puzzle Strike Online

The online version of Puzzle Strike now has rules-enforcement, meaning the game knows the rules. That makes it quite a bit easier to play and allowed us to clean up the interface a lot too. The screen doesn't need a bunch of buttons to do every possible thing because the game knows how to keep track of your gem pile, ongoing chips, and everything else for you. There's no AI to play against yet, but other players will be happy to walk you through the game if you're new. (If you like the game, there's also the physical version.)

Yomi

Yomi has had an online rules-enforced version for a while now, and we're still actively developing it. It does have an AI bot so you can learn the basics there before you try playing against real people. Also, you still have about 3 weeks left to get free Yomi Cursed Cards if you pre-order the next print run of the game that will ship in late May.

Flash Duel

I'm working on a second edition of Flash Duel that has a whole bunch of gameplay modes and a lot of new characters, too. It won't be done for a while, but it needs your help testing it. You can see a thread about it here, and maybe mock up the game yourself with a few decks of playing cards and a reference sheet:http://forums.sirlin.net/showthread.php?t=4972

Also, here's some in-progress art for the powerful dragon who can take on 4 other players at once:

Chat

There's a new sirlin.net web chat you can get to by clicking the blue button in the sidebar on the right. You're especially welcome if you're looking for Flash Duel opponents, ha. A lot of development for all my games goes on there, so if you're interested in getting involved, check it out. I think a lot of players have kind of become designers just by playtesting and discussing how to fix balance of various things while maintaining whatever feel those things were supposed to have.

Not sure I like the dragon. It's looks a bit furry, being humanoid with wings and a snout, basically.

Sam, furries are just people that fap thinking about looney tunes characters and decided to turn it into a trend.
I believe that if you don't have a problem with Midori you can survive another antropomorphic dragon :D

The anthropomorphized dragon may kinda fit with the "baby-fied" versions of the fantasy strike characters used in Flash Duel. While it made sense for Puzzle Strike (because of the Puzzle Fighter connection), I'm curious the thinking behind choosing to use this art for FD. Though I'm not sure I'm opposed to the decision -- might feel like a better fit with the simple/fun/supposedly-lighter gameplay of FD (haven't played yet myself) -- I would've thought the Yomi appearance of each character would be kinda the default. Maybe a marketing/business decision more than anything(?). In any case, I kinda like the dragon art and think it would fit well.

Getting ready to print out the cards and try it out - I've been reading for so long and am excited to finally try it out, especially now that I find out there are ten new characters!

Yomi characters are taller and thinner than Puzzle Strike characters. When you put a Yomi character on a Flash Duel card, then compare it to a Puzzle Strike character on that card, it's no contest. The Puzzle Strike kid version fits way better and appears much bigger on the card. This is even more true in the second edition than the first because the second edition uses a slightly taller box for the text, which means the area for the picture is even a bit closer to square ratio than it was before, so the chibi art fits even better now and the Yomi art fits even worse.

And Flash Duel is a simple game anyway so the chibi art feels fine. The Dragon is chibi style of course, to match the rest of the new Flash Duel game.

I know it was a while ago, but thanks for the answer about the art, Sirlin. Huh...didn't even think about the visual layout of the cards.
