I just wish that, even if the HD graphics didn't come with it, the rebalanced mode would come out as wiiware, because as much as I'd love to play this game, I own neither system this comes out for and that's not likely to change soon.
Unfortunately the Wii's store isn't even an option for everybody; while you can get online with a 360 with dial-up by networking the console to the PC, dial-up users with the Wii will always get time out errors, preventing the purchase of any games. I ended up getting a 360 (and consequently will be in grad school next year with a high-speed connection once again), but the Wii wouldn't be a good platform for the game anyway. Friend codes (for starters) and the game controllers are just counterintuitive to how online Street Fighter should be. Granted, I have a PSX > GCN adapter that allows me to use my PS2 controller and arcade stick on the Wii, but the Wii isn't my idea of a great system for online gaming.
Nintendo seems to be shifting away from the idea of direct competition with each iteration of its titles such as Smash Brothers (Sakurai does not like direct competition and consequently a lot of depth that Melee had is absent from Brawl) and Mario Kart (which, perhaps more than ever, focuses on skill-less items and "party game mayhem" than driving skills and intelligent item use that require aiming or thoughtful timing). The game just isn't in line with what Nintendo personally publishes, and I'd have to question how much it would actually sell on the Wii. There's no doubt it would sell, but the question is how much it would sell versus the cost to put it on the platform, and even if it is worth the effort given how Nintendo has always lagged behind the competition in online functionality. It just doesn't seem worth it.
Regardless, I am looking forward to HD Remix, even if my experience with it will be single player and local versus matches until next August. I'm very appreciative of the hard work Sirlin has put into perfecting the fighting genre staple and can't wait to play it. Sirlin is the type of guy that you really want to work on a project like this because he truly understands how game balance works, and he also will consult high-level players to get their input. I've been following the updates, and I know I will love the game when I get to play it next week.
About time ST:HD gets a review/interview/whatever that actually does it justice, rather than "It's ST with better graphics" or "It's a back-up game just in case you don't like SF4."
I'm quite surprised, however, that there was no mention of visible hitboxes...
Nova: It's Capcom's game, not Nintendo's. Also note that the SNES/Genesis Street Fighter II games are available on the VC, and there's also Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core available as a disc game. To say that Nintendo wants no competitive games on their system in light of such evidence is ridiculous.
Also, in my opinion, Wii Classic Controller > Xbox 360 or PS3 controllers when it comes to fighting games (Yes, the Wii actually has a "standard" controller with no motion sensing gimmick!). Of course, arcade sticks are probably better, and Hori has made sticks for all three systems, including Wii.
The Classic Controller is pretty comfy, though I do wish I had more games on my Wii that I would use it for. It's mostly there for Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn and some of my VC titles.
But to stay on topic, I'm really psyched for HD Remix. The only thing that has me down is that I have only a 360 controller to play the game with, which sucks hardcore for fighters :/ Not to mention my parents are in holiday shopping mode so no arcade stick for me anytime soon. Oh well, I'll deal.
If all you've got is the 360 controller for now, don't bother with the D-Pad; use the analogue stick. It is still less than ideal, but much better than the 360's d-pad, and will hold you over until you're able to get an arcade stick.
I never said that Nintendo wants no competitive games on the system. I only said that the core audience of the Wii may not necessarily support a port of the game (which is a moot point anyway as the game isn't coming out on the Wii). I'll grant you the Classic Controller as I forget it even exists since the games that come out on the VC are game I already own, and no Wii game I've bought made me wish I had the controller. It is quite a bit better than that 360 controller.
Hey Sirlin, Just wondering if the game shown in the actual review vid is final. I only ask because Akuma's raging demon damage is puzzling me. I saw it do much smaller damage recently, but then I see it do pretty nice damage to guile in that video. Anyway, which one is it? I could wait til weds, but I'll ask anyway. :)
Thats interesting, in a few videos i noticed the damaged scale down a lot. So that's natural for the move? Now I really can't wait to mess around with it. :)
"Manly CPS-1 Guile Voice is back!!! Hurray SIRLIN!!!!"
Hell yeah, that's a godsend, thanks a lot man. I like this announcer a lot more than "Mr. Helium" from Super Turbo. How many of the voice clips are different and where are they sourced from? It seems really interesting. You've done a fantastic job!
Does anyone (sirlin?) know if online matchmaking in the PSN version depends on the region in any way? I am contemplating buying from the US PSStore and I am from Europe (and yes, no store for my country; hail sony...).

They didn't mention it in the video review, but they definitely take note of it in the written review.

@Sirlin: The 1UP show spoke about it last week, they like it it seems (until they got a copy of SFIV)

Kai: I never changed the damage that the Raging Demon does. It did the same damage throughout development, and in the final version.

Anyone know what's available in the demo of SFHDR?

Sirlin somehow make capcom release this on steam, for the leave of god, I don't want to get a console just for this >.>
The 1Up review is...er...up! They gave the game an A+ grade, which AFAIK is the 'site's maximum score. Well done!

HD Remix was also very well-received at the London Games Festival. Unfortunately, I wasn't play it due to overcrowding :\
The new design if nice, but where has Cranky gone?
